Chosen Charity in 2014
Our four offices based in Richmond, West Malling, Manchester and Birmingham put a huge amount of effort into the projects and charities we support and our long standing commitment has gone out to among others Hospice of the Weald, Dreams Come True and Breast cancer awareness days.

Each year Sterling's staff nominates a new charity to benefit from the fundraising activity we undertake throughout the year. This year, Macmillan Cancer Support (www.macmillan.org.uk) has been chosen to be our charity of the year. A thoroughly deserving charity, they provide practical, medical and financial support for those living with cancer and actively campaign for  better cancer care. Our fundraising will enable nurses to support patients through treatment whether at home or in hospital; our support will also allow the charity to provide financial assistance for those that need it and help people live with cancer.

Sterling takes part in dress down days, coffee mornings and sponsored sporting events  in aid of this charity. By fundraising and other contributions, Sterling will provide and support committed volunteers and raise the profile of Macmillan throughout the year.

Community Strategy
Taking a responsible approach to social and environmental issues remains crucial to our business performance and its future success. We are actively engaged with the communities in which we work, focusing on support and regeneration. We aim to increase job creation, local purchasing and investment in community initiatives.

Environmental Impact
Sterling takes a close and responsible interest in the environmental impact of its operations. Due to the nature of our business, Sterling does not have a major impact on the environment. We none-the-less recognise the value of taking a proactive approach to environmental management. Key measurements of environmental impacts focus on the areas of recycling, energy conservation and waste management.
