Are you thinking of some Baby gifts?

With the royal baby making it's grand arrival, it's got us here at Sterling thinking about baby gifts and how the added "baby" elements to a home can impact on sums insured!

baby cribsmall.jpgFirst things first, the baby will need a crib; whilst most of us will be headed to our local Mamas and Papas store or Mothercare, the website Poshtots (www.poshtots.com) has something far more fitting for the young Prince. A snip at $19,000, the baby can immediately start to become accustomed to the surroundings of a royal carriage!

For those trips out and about town, Aston Martin have collaborated with Maclaren to produce a stylish push chair. It has all the trustworthiness you would expect from a Maclaren pram, plus the luxurious features you find inside an Aston Martin. The best thing? The fabric is stain resistant, however only 800 of these were made, dramatically increasing their value from the retail price of a rather modest £2,000.

Every child needs a comforter and the royal baby is no exception, whilst most policyholders may not think about including their baby's comforters as a specified item, there are a few that might be noteworthy for the Royal family, such as a Steiff teddy bear, a cashmere baby blanket or perhaps a diamond studded pacifier at $17,000? (www.personalizedpacifiers.com)

baby wardrobesmall.jpgAnd where would a royal baby be without some beautiful outfits to wear? We know that Kate is a fan of mixing her high street essentials with some beautiful designer labels and we expect the little one to follow suit. Some of the high street shops such as Mamas and Papas, Petit Bateau and The Little White Company are likely to be popular with some Baby Dior, Ralph Lauren and Chloe items mixed in too. With brands like Christian Dior offering outfits for £550 at Harrods, it's not hard to estimate that by the end of 12 months the little Prince could easily have amassed a wardrobe worth over £10,000!

And that's before we start to account for the many gifts, the family will receive from world leaders, dignitaries and celebrities.

In any case, although many of us not royalty, it is important to think about reassessing the sums insured on all policies at these key touch points in life.

Congratulations on the birth of the Royal Baby and we wish them a very happy life together.
