Sterling appoints in-house lawyer

Sterling Insurance Group has appointed Catherine May as in-house lawyer within its Property & Liability Claims team. May's role as an in-house commercial dispute resolution specialist will help to support the claims team and enable Sterling to continue to adapt in a fast evolving legal landscape.

Catherine has diverse experience. She qualified at legacy Barlow Lyde & Gilbert and has previously been a partner in insurance specialist, domestic and international law firms, including Reed Smith LLP and DWF LLP.  As an in-house lawyer, Catherine will enhance Sterling's customer service by providing immediate advice on all critical contentious legal issues.  She will also educate the claims and underwriting teams on key legal developments in the insurance market through a rolling training programme.

Garry Simmons, Head of Property & Liability Claims, comments:

"We are thrilled to have someone of Catherine's talent working within our claims team. Her depth of experience will ensure early and pro-active advice, cost certainty and a reduction in contentious legal spend.  Catherine will be a major asset to Sterling's team that has a passion for helping customers, is supported by quality products, and continually looks at ways of evolving the claims offering."
